How is a Tokenduts made?
The foundation for Tokendutsen’s images is... AI! Oh gross, what a lack of creativity?! Hold up, muchacho—AI actually helps speed up the drawing process! That being said, there’s still a lot of work involved in matching the right image to the right idea. And even then, the job isn’t done. AI isn’t always great at generating hands, eyes, or other small details, which means an image might match the idea in my head perfectly, but still have a few flaws.
That’s why I use my digital drawing tablet to touch up the images, redraw certain parts, or combine multiple elements into one image. And dear friends, that can take quite some effort.
~Flashback~ Last year, for my friends in the Magic group I play with a lot, a friend and I worked on making custom Magic playmats for everyone. We designed them ourselves. My (platonic) friend is amazing at character design, while I handled the line art and colors. The result? Some seriously awesome playmats! But each one took about three months to make. Here’s one of them:

Back to the present: creativity is super important, but in the end, the goal is to have fun playing a game with friends and using tokens that you enjoy. Whether that’s a photo you like, a cool drawing you made yourself, or an AI-generated piece—whatever makes you happy!
The pre-made tokens are ones I personally found fun to create! The customizer is there so you can make tokens exactly the way you want. You can also upload images from proxies or other online MTG designers and have them printed through the custom designer. In the future, I want to add more of my own designs to the site, but I’ll take my time creating them.
I could explain how I print them… but you can also just watch the video below!
